Each Painting I do has a story. Whether it's a little girl and her mother selling hand made blankets to foreigners or
a girl named Jaci holding her baby brother Christain. Jaci is only eleven years old, but lives the life of an adult. She has
the responsibility of looking after her siblings, which are five all together. I met Jaci in Guatemala where I built relationships
with the children and people of the Pueblos. when I returned back home, i had many pictures that I did not want to see end
up in my photo album. Instead I decided and felt called to show the children and people through my paintings.
With my portraiture like paintings, i want the viewers to see that "Captured in time" moment that a photograph reflex's.
The subjects are frozen in time, leaving the viewer to wonder what happens next. I'm always asked about why I do not put faces
on my paintings. I leave them faceless because i also want the viewer to put themselves in the painting, and throughout time
i may forget their faces and even their names, but God will always remember them.
